3、 5 月 2 6 日 II ABSTRACT A Report on the Interpretation of the Presentation by Elon Musk on Tesla 2015 Annual Shareholders Meeting The material used in this practice report is the speech delivered by Tesla’s CEO Elon

4、 Musk in its 2015 shareholders meeting. The author made a mock consecutive interpreting, then transcribed the source speech and the interpreted version, analyzed the major problems and finished the practice report. Elon

5、Musk’s speech is featured by fast speed, the entertaining language and the highly professional content. Since the speaker made the speech without texts and answered the questions spontaneously, run-on sentences and loose

6、ly-structured sentences were frequently used. In this practice report, the author mainly discussed three tough problems encountered: information loss, information redundancy and inequivalence of syntactic structure betw

7、een English and Chinese. To handle these three problems, the author adopted different methods. For the first problem, the author treated by adding semantic words and adding correlative words. For the second problem, the

8、 author adopted by omitting explanative and syntactic redundancy. For last category of problems, the author adopted by de-nominalization, transforming passive voice into active one and materializing non-finite verbs. In
